AR Menu (W.I.P)

AR Menu (W.I.P)

Status: Work in Progress

Duration: 2 Months

This is a project for my Major Studio class in Parsons the new school.

I did an AR Menu project since my huge passion with designing within restaurant industry. And main purpose was trying to tell the story behind the dish to improve diners’ experience before they even saw the dish.

Prototype

The idea was showing the total time cost behind each dish to tell the story behind it.

Why the story is important?

The documentary series made by Netflix which called “Chef’s Table” was my original inspiration. When the chef talked about how many times and how many research they did for invent a red yolk egg dish, I was completely shocked. Somehow, I never thought about the invisible hard works behind a fantastic dish. It’s time to show some respect to those tangible things.

Landscape

My program combined the video capture function and a transformed particle system in order to generate an unpredictable image processing technique. The final production of this project would be a series of reproduced photos of daily scenes and items, which present a generative and imaginative “landscape”.

Mnemosyne Lethe

Mnemosyne Lethe

This program was a memory test. It was a 36-line-acrostic poem that describing a story with four different endings based on user’s choices. In this poem, a significant question — “Do you remember how you come into this world?” was hidden, and it could be recognized by connecting the first letter of each line of the poem. At the end of this program, a clue was also provided for users to discover the question. This question helps users to consider the accuracy of their own memories.
